Sycamore Academy views its Academic programme as a priority to the child’s scholastic development.  Supported by the staff’s mentoring of a child’s values and the manner in which they meet their responsibilities towards others, the Academic programme is both stimulating and innovative.  The teachers lead by example and provide excellent role models to the pupils.  All staff are SACE (South African Council of Educators) registered and their professionalism and empathy provides the ideal environment for the children to develop sound academic practices.

Classrooms

Our classroom environments are attractive and stimulating, while Smart Board Technology provides our teachers and pupils with wonderful opportunities related to visual learning. The maximum number of 24 pupils per class creates the ideal climate for individualized attention and learning to take place.  Whilst ‘bigger’ is often viewed as better, we believe that the reverse is applicable to Education.  As such, Sycamore Academy’s pledge to parents is that the maximum number of 24 per class will never be exceeded, and with the school incorporating grades 1 to 7, the tally throughout the school, will never be greater than 168 pupils. Sycamore Academy has acquired the property adjacent to the school and this beautifully decorated and equipped facility is now the new home of the three foundation phase classes (Gr 1 to 3).

Growth in the Future

The past two years has seen phenomenal growth at Sycamore Academy and the addition of numerous facilities and initiatives has further improved the educational package on offer.

An exciting development is that the school has purchased a second adjacent house, which will accommodate the new administration block on the lower floor.  A state of the art, Science and Robotics centre, will soon be opened on the upper floor of the facility.

Media and Computer Information Technology Centre

A well-equipped Computer Information Technology Centre to facilitate computer literacy, information Technology and programming courses for our pupils is provided for this cutting edge aspect of education, and this state of the art facility, has ensured that Sycamore Pupils stay at the forefront of this ever evolving discipline.  The Library is well equipped and features prominently in developing a love for reading among the Sycamore pupils.  Reading we believe, is the magic ingredient needed to stimulate and enhance a child’s academic prowess and ultimately his/her view of the world.

Science and Robotics Centre

Not to be outdone, the new Science and Robotics Centre will be completed by the end of 2022, and will provide an abundance of Educational materials and fun-filled activities.  This educational hub will aim at further fostering science literacy amongst our pupils.  They will encounter plenty of hands-on lessons for them to get involved in and a fun way to gain scientific knowledge.  The interactive programmes form part of a very involving educative experience for our pupils, in a way that’s easy to grasp.  Included in the facility will be numerous Robotics apparatus, all geared to develop and expose our pupils to this ever developing discipline. The acquisition of this facility will no doubt place Sycamore Academy at the forefront of Primary School Education.
