Sycamore has developed close relationships with many of the Private Pre-schools throughout the Durban and Greater Durban areas. With our focus on Grades 1 to 7 only, we offer Pre-school Grade R pupils, the opportunity of being educated (from Grade 1) in one of Durban’s top Private Primary Schools.
As our classes are never more than 20 pupils in size, it is advisable that prospective families apply in mid-January, for their grade R child to be accommodated in the grade 1 class for the following year.
As a related Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), Sycamore Academy is a non-profit Educational Institution which provides an excellent private education at a greatly reduced price.
For true value-for-money – Sycamore Academy is hard to beat and incorporates all the ticked boxes desired from families, when wanting to enrol their child/ren into an educational institution.
In 2021, it is expected that our fees will be R2,950-00 per month, payable over 12 months, from 1 January to 1 December 2021.
Admission applications are available on Sycamore Academy’s website www.sycamoreacademy.co.za and once completed, can be submitted via this medium to the school.

Application form requests will be immediately attended to and forwarded to interested parties.
Parents are asked to expeditiously complete these forms and submit all related documents to the school, so that the application can be considered.
Should your child be granted an interview, a convenient date and time will be arranged.
The School Principal will personally conduct the Interview, while the Foundation Phase staff team will oversee a School Readiness Test with your child.
Should your application be successful, a deposit of R1,000-00 will secure your child’s placement in Grade 1 for the following year.
This deposit will be deducted from your child’s first school fee payment at the beginning of January of the following year, and is, as such, a commitment from the family’s side for their child to attend Sycamore Academy.
All successful Grade 1 applicants and their families will be invited to a welcoming party on the 1st Saturday morning of October.
The pupils will meet their Grade 1 classmates and parents will be able to socialize and meet both the staff and other families, that will accompany them on the ‘Sycamore Academy Journey’, the following year.
Stanley Stationers will be present to distribute order forms for your child’s stationery for Grade 1. Parents will be advised of the costs, method of payment and delivery procedures on the respective Saturday morning.
A Uniform List will also be given to parents. The uniform whilst attractive, has been chosen so as to minimise the financial cost implications for parents. The uniform is available from GEM Clothing in Overport Centre and it is advisable to purchase the items during the October/November months. You will thus avoid the traditional school uniform purchase rush and the possibility of a number of the items being sold out!
The Sycamore Academy Value System booklet (Code of Conduct) will also be given to parents and incorporates all criteria related to the family’s journey at the school. Excellent communication is vital for customer satisfaction and this booklet deals with all the aspects related to enhancing the school and the family’s relationship.
A Guide to Grade 1 handout booklet will also be given to parents and will provide excellent hints and strategies to help parents and the child cope with the demands of Grade 1.
At the end of this highly informative and entertaining morning, both parents and children will be fully prepared for the entry into ‘Big School’. The morning serves as an ideal ‘Icebreaker’ to welcome our families to the Sycamore Academy community.
